If you are not wanting to wire up LED strips, then an alternative is to use a battery powered LED strip. These strips are rechargeable using the supplied USB cord, have motion detection options, the choice between cool or warm light, and also brightness adjustment.  The strips are attached with magnetic pads that have double sided tape which attaches to the timber. You can also choose to route the strip in so the LED strip is near flush with the shelf surface, concealing the strip.
